Here at ALC, we have a wide range of opportunities to “inherit the kingdom” through
our Pastoral Care Ministries which include counseling the distraught, visiting the
sick and lonely, and praying with those in need. Our ultimate goal is to reach the
hurting with the life-changing message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Counseling
It is our desire to faithfully serve those who are in need of direction in their lives. Counseling is available by appointment by calling the church office. Our counselors will present the Biblically based counsel that will give direction for those seeking help.
Hospitality Services
Ushers, greeters and parking lot attendants assist in creating a comfortable atmosphere for worship. Your volunteer work in this area will be much appreciated knowing the Kingdom of God is being served.
Altar Ministry
The services of our church are composed of three parts: praise and worship, the sharing of God’s Word, and an invitation to receive personal ministry at the altar area of our church sanctuary. Trained prayer partners will greet those who respond to the invitation for personal ministry. The prayer partners will pray with you according to the need that you present. Watch as your burdens are removed and your spirit is lifted!
Hospital Visitation
Nothing is more encouraging than a visit from a friend when you are hospitalized. The Hospital Ministry visits those who are sick or shut in and ministers to them from the Word of God. Free CDs of missed Sunday services are available upon request. To arrange a visit, please contact the leader of our Hospital Ministry, Frank Smith, at (225) 665-7000.
Food Donations
One important ministry that we feel ministers to body and soul is our Food Donations Ministry. Certain times of the year, we give out lists of needed food and toiletry items to our congregation to be brought in to our church office to be distributed to those in need. We also help in times of extended hospitalization or death. Please contact Diane Guy at (225) 665-7000 for more information.
Nursing Home Ministry
Our life does not end here on earth until we take our final breath. It is our passion to see that ministry takes place for our beloved and wisdom-filled elders. Every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month, we meet at Harvest Manor Nursing Home on Cockerham Rd. in Denham Springs to sing to, encourage, share the Word, and pray with the residents. We desire to bring joy to their lives in many ways, such as teaching about Jesus’ unfailing love, and showing how He can become their Healer, Comforter and Friend. But our biggest goal is to make sure that everyone there comes to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Helpers and volunteers are always welcomed, but there is no requirement to show up at every meeting. Please join us as we become blessed by blessing others.
